Daria K, Grade 10, Kyiv
My name is Daria K, and I am a Grade 10 student at Pechersk School International (PSI). For quite some time, I have wanted to find a way to assist those who are interested in learning the Ukrainian language and share its beauty with them. I realized that the personal project would be a great opportunity to start developing and implementing my idea. My biggest inspiration for this was our PSI teachers, who approached the Ukrainian language and culture with openness. Seeing many willing to learn Ukrainian deeply moved me and sparked my desire to support this interest. It motivated me to create a Ukrainian language textbook for beginners, focusing on practical vocabulary to help newcomers feel more engaged with local society and culture.
Ukraine has not been a popular destination, especially now, in the midst of war, and our language is not widespread. As a result, the resources for foreign learners are very limited. However, I believe that after Ukraine’s victory, the interest in our country will grow, and many will seek opportunities to come. I hope that this will make resources, such as the textbook I created, even more useful and valuable.
